Department for Medresses of Thrace - Competences
The Department for Medresses is responsible for:
- matters concerning the formal and non-formal Religious Education of the Muslim Minority of Thrace and of Muslims residing in the rest of the country; more specifically: (aa) the establishment, suspension of operation, change of status, relocation, merging and abolition of existing Medresses, which aim, among others, at the education and training of Muslim religious ministers of the Muslim Minority of Thrace, as well as other operating or newly established related schools that also provide religious education to Muslims in the rest of the country; (ab) the operational framework and curricula of the religious schools referred to in this paragraph; (ac) the enrolment, transfer and examination procedures of pupils and students attending the religious schools referred to in this paragraph; (ad) the service status (appointments, transfers, secondments, promotions, dismissals and retirements) of the personnel of the religious schools referred to in this paragraph;
- the supervision of the implementation of educational programs, as well as the issuance of certificates of equivalence and recognition of foreign primary and secondary education qualifications as equivalent to those awarded by the religious schools referred to in this paragraph;
- the school boards of the religious schools referred to in this paragraph;
- the administration and coordination of decentralized services in matters concerning the religious schools referred to in this paragraph;
- all student-related matters concerning the religious schools referred to in this paragraph;
- the drafting of relevant decisions concerning the publication, circulation and distribution of textbooks and all forms of educational material and resources required to meet the needs of the religious schools referred to in this paragraph;
- any matter relating to higher-level studies in connection with the education provided by the religious schools referred to in this paragraph;
- the staffing of the religious schools referred to in this paragraph;
- any matter relating to the service status of teachers serving in the religious schools referred to in this paragraph;
- all matters relating to the evaluation of teachers serving in the religious schools referred to in this paragraph;
- the handling of any other related matter.
