Department for Islamic Affairs - Competences

The Department for Muslim Matters is responsible for:
a. matters relating to the organization, operation, supervision, and control of the Muftiates;
b. the appointment and matters concerning the service status of the Muftis and Muslim Religion Teachers of the Quran;
c. matters relating to the Mosques of Thrace and to Imams, Khatibs, and Muezzins;
d. matters relating to the Waqfs of Thrace, as well as the supervision, monitoring, and support of the activities of the Administrative and Waqf Committees in Thrace;
e. matters relating to the Waqfs of Kos and Rhodes, as well as the monitoring and support of the activities of the Waqf Committees of Kos and Rhodes;
f. matters relating to private Waqfs, in particular the supervision thereof and of all kinds of activities carried out by them;
g. matters relating to the organization of the Islamic Mosque of Athens, the appointment of its administration, and its operation in general;
h. matters relating to Muslim religious ministers;
i. the handling of any other related matter.
